Gaia charm

Gaia is a sculptural 9k gold pendant inspired by an ancient maternal motif, reimagined as a modern heirloom. Framed with 1×1mm brilliant-cut diamonds and centered by a carved mother-of-pearl figure, Gaia symbolizes nurture, protection, strength, and the timeless beauty of motherhood, an enduring expression of unconditional love.

The design draws inspiration from an ancient solid gold ring dating to 330–320 BC, discovered in Thessaloniki in 1938 within the tomb of a young affluent woman, whose wealth was evident from the numerous and valuable grave goods buried with her, particularly her jewellery. The ring's delicate intaglio may depict a scene from everyday life, an affectionate mother or a nurse breastfeeding a child, as was often the case in wealthy households. Alternatively, it may represent a Kourotrophos (Divine Nurse), the protector of children, a role frequently associated with deities such as Artemis, Aphrodite, Eileithyia, Gaia, and other maternal deities.

This remarkable miniature intaglio was featured in the Art in Gold exhibition at the Benaki Museum in Athens in 2026. A symbolic Mother's Day gift celebrating nurture, protection, strength, and unconditional love, honouring motherhood in all its forms.
