Derived from the ancient Greek ô méga, meaning “great o,” it was named to distinguish it from Omicron, the “small o,” and represents the final place in the sequence of letters that shaped one of the world’s most influential alphabets. How to measure
The hands-on method
- Grab a tape measure, a length of string, or a strip of paper.
- Wrap it around the finger you'll wear your ring on — if you're creating a ring stack, consider where on your finger the ring will sit — and mark the place where it joins.
